Keybindings
Every default keyboard and mouse control. The Godot project file has no input map. Defaults and remaps live in the game's own binding list and are saved with your settings.
Rebinding
Open Settings, then Interface. Click a key button and press the new key. Escape cancels capture without changing the bind. Two actions cannot share a key. Shift, Ctrl, Alt, and the Meta key cannot be bound as the key itself. Reset keys to defaults puts the table below back.
Older saves are migrated when they still have the last shipped defaults: take-control on F and interact on E become C and F, and speeds on F1 through F4 move to 1 through 4. A custom remap is left alone.
Default actions
These are the remappable actions, in the order Settings lists them.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Esc | Open or close settings. Escape also runs the cancel stack below, and most of that stack is hardcoded to the Escape key even if you rebind settings. |
| G | Guidebook. |
| H | Find Staff. Opens the Operations binder on the Staff page and focuses the name search. |
| F5 | Quick save. |
| F9 | Quick load. |
| Delete | Uninstall an object, cancel a pending build, erase a zone, or fire staff. It does not demolish floors or walls. Use the Demolish tool for that. |
| Space | Pause or resume time. Blocked while an event alert is open. |
| 1 | Time speed 0.5x. |
| 2 | Time speed 1x. |
| 3 | Time speed 2x. |
| 4 | Time speed 4x. |
| R | Rotate the build ghost. |
| I | Eyedropper. Copies the tile or object under the cursor into the matching tool. |
| P | Work priority paint. |
| B | Demolish tool. |
| U | Toggle the utility overlay (cables and pipes). |
| O | Show or hide roofs. |
| F10 | Show or hide all UI. |
| Tab | Cycle the inspect target. Shift+Tab goes backward. Under the Eyedropper, Tab cycles objects, utilities, and furniture first. |
| C | Take or release control of a staff member or a vehicle. See Possessing staff. |
| F | Staff action while you are possessing someone. Interact, including pick up. Not a vehicle key. |
| E | Scan a package (manual sort) while possessing staff. |
| Q | Put down what the possessed staff member is holding. |
| W | Pan up. While possessing, this is move or drive instead of camera pan. |
| S | Pan down. While possessing, move or drive. |
| A | Pan left. While possessing, move or steer. |
| D | Pan right. While possessing, move or steer. |
| ` | Debug console. Any recognized console command turns achievements off for that save. |
| F11 | Debug console, same as backtick. |
Mouse
| Input | What it does |
|---|---|
| Left click, no tool | Inspect the highlighted stack or tile. While possessing, a world click can issue an order instead. |
| Left click, build tool | Place, or start and finish a drag rectangle (zones, floors, walls, cables, pipes). |
| Right click, no tool | Clears click-inspect (zone overlay, tooltip, hard selection). |
| Right click, build tool | Cancels the tool. Zone brushes can right-drag to erase. Deploy tools subtract one assignee. |
| Middle drag | Pan the map. Disabled while you are possessing someone (the camera follows them). |
| Wheel | Zoom at the cursor. There is no keyboard zoom. The wheel does not zoom while the pointer is over the Operations binder. |
| Screen edge | The camera scrolls when the cursor is within 24 pixels of the window edge. |
Modifiers and extra keys
These are not separate rows in Settings. They stay on these keys.
| Input | What it does |
|---|---|
| T | With a build tool active: mirror a premade room stamp left and right, or flip a swing door inward and outward. |
| Ctrl+Z | Undo the last build stroke. |
| Ctrl+Y | Redo a build stroke. |
| Arrow keys | Pan the camera on that axis even when WASD are the bound pan keys. Inside a free-text field, arrows stay with the caret. On a number spinner, arrows edit the value and the letter pan keys still move the view. |
| Shift | Hold while placing to keep a one-shot tool armed. Also doubles camera pan speed. Shift+Tab reverses inspect and eyedropper cycling. |
| Ctrl+drag | Erase a typed zone, salvage matching cables or pipes into spare stacks, or clear work-priority marks. With no tool selected, Ctrl+drag paints Highest work priority. Alt or a text field blocks that idle gesture. The Windows key is not treated as Ctrl. |
| Ctrl+click | On a door, queues a door uninstall instead of an instant delete. |
| Enter | Acknowledges an event or disaster alert. Escape dismisses it. |
Escape cancel stack
Escape walks a priority list before it toggles Settings: close an on-screen keyboard, leave a text field, dismiss an alert, clear inspect, close the guidebook, release possession, cancel the build tool, collapse the hire flyout, collapse the build catalog, then close the Operations binder.
Keys that are not bound
5 through 9, 0, L, M, N, Home, End, and Page Up are not gameplay shortcuts. Camera bookmark slots exist in the save data, but no key saves or recalls them. In progress
There is no ceiling-layer hotkey. Ceiling mounts explains what the light layer does today.
Debug keys
These are hardcoded and are not in the Settings list. Debug
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| F6 | Performance overlay. |
| Shift+F6 | Truck reverse tuner. |
| F7 | Paint a large zone block at the camera (stress). |
| F8 | Spawn extra staff. |
| F12 | Despawn staff that F8 spawned. |
| ` / F11 | Debug console. The sim pauses while it is open. Commands such as office, money, and selftest are developer tools, and using a recognized command disables achievements on that save. |
A gamepad path exists beside the keyboard (pause, time, build confirm, Operations). This page does not list pad buttons. They are not remapped in the keyboard Settings rows.
